CEnT-S Structure and Syllabus
(updated December 2025)
According to CISIA, the CEnT-S exam is divided into five sections: Mathematics, Text & Data Interpretation, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. However, universities don’t always use all of them—depending on the degree you’re applying to, they may only look at specific sections.
To maximise your chances, start by checking which sections your chosen program actually evaluates, and then prioritise your preparation on those areas.
1. Mathematics
Covers numerical skills and logical reasoning.
Key topics:
- Algebraic Expressions: Equations, inequalities, polynomials
- Functions & Graphing: Linear, parabolic, circle graphs
- Trigonometry: sine, cosine, tangent
- Exponential & Logarithmic Expressions
- Analytical Geometry: lines, parabolas, circles
- Probability & Statistics
- Combinations & Permutations
2. Text & Data Interpretation
Tests reading comprehension and analytical thinking.
Key topics:
- Reading Comprehension: Main idea, detail, author’s purpose
- Logical Reasoning: Draw conclusions
- Tables, Charts & Data: Interpretation
3. Physics
Key topics:
- Mechanics (motion, force, energy, momentum, work)
- Waves (sound, harmonic motion)
- Electricity & Magnetism (circuits, voltage, current, resistance)
- Thermodynamics (heat, temperature, laws)
- Optics (reflection, refraction, lenses)
4. Chemistry
Key topics:
- Atomic structure & periodic table
- Bonds & reactions
- Mole & stoichiometry
- Solutions & solubility
- Acids & bases, pH
- Basic organic chemistry
5. Biology
Key topics:
- Cell structure & organelles
- Genetics (DNA, RNA, inheritance)
- Evolution & Ecology
- Human physiology (systems)
- Biochemistry (carbs, proteins, lipids)
